Sooraj Pancholi breaks down on stage

There was high drama at the trailer launch of Hero on Wednesday evening when Salman Khan officially presented his discoveries Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty to the public.

It was an evening of high emotional tides for Sooraj. While recalling the trauma and turmoil that he has undergone while shooting the film, the young actor broke down.
Says a source close to Sooraj, "Sooraj couldn't hold back his tears as he recalled all the pain he had suffered during the last two years. The death of his girlfriend actress Jiah Khan and subsequent attempts by Jiah's mother to implicate him in the alleged suicide has taken its toll on Sooraj. He shot the film through a haze of pain and hurt...It all came out bubbling to the surface at the trailer launch on Wednesday."
Sooraj wept on stage, and Salman Khan came forward to console him. It was a moment of heartbreaking bonding between the protege and the mentor. Both have gone through their share of agony vis-a-vis the law.
Says a close friend of Sooraj, "There is an unspoken bond between Salman and Sooraj. Though they don't speak about it much they feel one another's pain."

Incidentally Sooraj's mother actress Zarina Wahab couldn't make it to her son's trailer launch. "I really wanted to be there. But I was shooting for an ad. And there was no way they could let me go for a few hours. I watched the trailer after I returned home late at night after the shooting. Really proud of my son and Athiya," said Zarinaji emotionally.

Wide release for Salman's next!

By HT
Mumbai, July 14 -- From North African countries to the smallest towns in India, Bollywood actor Salman Khan's upcoming film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, will be distributed far and wide.
Talking about how excited the industry is about the movie, trade expert Taran Adarsh says, "Expectations from Bajrangi Bhaijaan are humongous, mainly because it is releasing on Eid, and brings back the combination of Salman Khan and Kabir Khan (director) after the successful film, Ek Tha Tiger (2012). If the movie gets a wide release in India, as well as in the international markets, it only goes to prove that the film is piping hot among the audience, distributors and exhibitors."
The film will cover approximately 50 countries outside India, and more than 700 screens. Out of these, the four major international markets - USA, UK, UAE and Australia - have 450 screens.
In totality, the film will be releasing in more than 5,000 screens, with approximately 4,500 prints in India and others overseas. While the film will follow the norm, and release on Friday, July 17, in most of these countries, in some non-traditional markets such as Morocco, Tunisia, Korea, Taiwan and Poland, it will release at a later date.
Amar Butala, co-producer and COO, Salman Khan Films, says, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan is this year's most awaited film, be it for the audiences, the distributors or exhibitors. This will be Salman's widest release till date in India and in the overseas market.
We are confident that the content of the film will not only be loved by his fans in India, but will also resonate with newer audiences across the 50-plus countries that the film will release in." Produced by Salman and Rockline Venkatesh, Bajrangi Bhaijaan also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. The film will be distributed worldwide by Eros International, and is scheduled for release on Eid 2015.

Rachel insisted she loved working on 'True Detective', because of her character, as well as her co-star Colin Farrell, who she said is a ''delight''.
Speaking to Stylist magazine, she said: ''I felt connected to Ani on a gut level. I understood her as soon as I read her. Working with Colin was a delight. He would come to my trailer for a chat and a cup of tea every day. We got really into chocolate coconut chips.''

Zoe Kravitz wasn't spoilt

Zoe Kravitz insists she wasn't spoilt as a child.

The 'Mad Max: Fury Road' actress, who is the daughter of rocker Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, grew up with a private chef and a housekeeper, but says she was raised her ''in an old-school way.''The 26-year-old star said: ''We had a chef, but it was never like, 'This is the way the world works, Zoe.' I knew we were very lucky, and my dad raised me in an old-school way. His mom [actress Roxie Roker] was from the Bahamas, and it was about manners and making the bed. It's that old black s**t, really -- like, you get smacked if you talk the wrong way. It was about having respect for your elders and being thankful for what we had. He wanted to make sure I had chores, and not because we didn't have a housekeeper, but because of the principle of the thing.''While she is extremely close to both of her parents, the starlet, who also performs in the band Lolawolf, admits she ''was very self-conscious'' about following in Lenny's footsteps. She told the August issue of NYLON magazine: ''There was a point in my teens where I was very self-conscious and didn't want to make any music because I would get compared to my dad. But I knew I was working hard. I'm not a f**king genius, but I know who I am as an artist. The one thing about art is you can't question it. Everyone is looking at everyone else to find out what's cool. No one knows what's cool. Just do it with confidence -- no one can take that away from you.''

Ekdum Jhakaas! How Mumbaiya Hindi became part of Bollywood

Tapori language or Mumbaiya Hindi that is mouthed by Bollywood actors has found universal acceptance over the years

Ekdum jhakaas! No public appearance of Anil Kapoor goes without him mouthing these words, 30 years after he uttered it in Yudh (1985). The famous words, which mean ‘Absolutely superb’ in Mumbaiya Hindi, are synonymous with the actor.

For Jackie Shroff, it is “Kya bidu? (How are you pal?)” that came to be oft used by people in Mumbai and outside post his 1983 film Hero. Years later, Sanjay Dutt also mouthed “Kya bidu?” in Munnabhai MBBS (2003) and Lage Raho Munnabhai (2006).

As Bollywood is based in Mumbai, it is natural for the local fare to seep into movies. Mumbaiya language, what is commonly referred to as tapori language, has always been an intrinsic part of Hindi film dialogues and songs. Aamir Khan crooned Ae, kya bolti tu in Ghulam (1998) which was laced with tapori lingo. Another famous line from the Salman Khan-Aamir Khan starrer Andaz Apna Apna (1994) that immediately comes to mind is, “Aaila, Oi ma, crime master Gogo!”— Aai in Marathi means mother. And how about this one? “Abey dhakkan, kyun time khoti kar rela hai?” — Khoti is borrowed from Marathi meaning waste.

Universal appeal
Explains writer duo Sajid-Farhad who have penned films like Bol Bachchan (2012) and Singham Returns (2014), “Mumbai’s tapori language has now become the universal language of Bollywood. There is a huge audience who may not comprehend it, but enjoy it. In fact, now they understand it too.”

Anil Kapoor

Jackie Shroff
Till date Anil Kapoor (above) and Jackie Shroff are known for mouthing ‘Jhakaas’ and ‘Kya Bidu’ respectively

Writer Bunty Rathore, who has penned for films like Khiladi 786 (2012) adds, “It is widely accepted. I am from Meerut and even the people there now understand the Mumbaiya language thanks to Bollywood.”

For most writers, a touch of Mumbaiya Hindi adds to the pithiness of the film, making it more expressive while giving colour to the character. Instead of penning lines in pure Hindi in films, which may make people run to a dictionary to find its meaning, use of colloquial Hindi mostly helps connect with the audience.

Vivek Oberoi used a lot of Mumbaiya Hindi in his films like Company (2002) and Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007)
Vivek Oberoi used a lot of Mumbaiya Hindi in his films like Company (2002) and Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007)

Says writer Milap Zaveri who has written for films like Grand Masti (2013), “I feel language is never a barrier. I wrote Shootout At Wadala (2013) which had Bambaiya language and the audience loved it. Similarly, Rangeela (1995) also had a lot of such words and was a super hit. When people come to see a film, they come prepared that a particular character will speak in a style specific to the culture he is shown to be a part of.” Sajid-Farhad add, “When you write dialogues, what a character says has to go with his/her setting. You cannot show roadside characters spewing chaste language.”

The Bhai lingo
Bollywood baddies, especially those belonging to the underworld, speak the typical bhai dialect as it is called. As they say, “Maine usko tapka diya” (I have killed him”). Interestingly, the baddies lingo is concocted specifically to typify underworld characters. Vivek Oberoi used it in Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007) as well as in his films like Company (2002) and Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story (2013).

Jon Snow has a chance to return on ‘Game of Thrones’, says Emilia Clarke

Los Angeles: Mother of dragons feels Jon Snow, who was shockingly killed at the end of season five of ‘Game of Thrones’, has 50/50 chance of returning in the next season.

Actress Emilia Clarke has given some hope to the fans who were furious with the surprise plot development that saw Snow, played by Kit Harington, get assassinated by his own men in the Night’s Watch.

While showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have said Snow is really dead, fans have flooded the internet with theories about his possible resurrection at the hands of red priestess Melisandre.

And now Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the popular TV series, has added some fuel to the many theories with her comments.

Clarke said she has ‘no idea’ if Snow is really dead. “I read the scripts and I cried and I called David and Dan and took Kit out for numerous drinks,” said Clarke in an interview with MTV.

“Looking forward, they know that I can’t lie very well. I can with all honesty say I have no idea what’s happening.”When prodded further, Clarke said, “If I had to bet, I would say it’s a 50/50 chance. There are some helpful people there, who could bring Jon back to life.”

Fans have speculated that Melisandre (Carice Van Houten), who boasts some impressive magical abilities, could potentially bring Jon back to life, as she returned to The Wall shortly before his death.

Jon’s brother Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright), who has strange abilities of his own, may also be helpful in bringing his brother to life.

It is a part of the Global Goals campaign, “Project Everyone”, founded by Curtis. The ad #WEHAVEAPLAN will be screened in more than 30 countries across the world including India.

Pinto, 30, and Ejiofor, 37, joined Curtis and creator of the ad Sir John Hegarty on stage at a seminar, Cannes Lions, to share their views on how cinema can be a powerful medium in driving social change.

Curtis called on the media community in Cannes to join the founding team to promote the new global goals for sustainable development.

“I would love everyone to get behind the mission to make the goals famous. We are targeting every website and billboard, every TV and radio station, every cinema, every community, every school and every mobile phone network with the task of carrying a simple message about the goals for the 7 days after they are launched,” Curtis said. The campaign is backed by Sawa, the global cinema advertising association.

The film is said get a 2018 release, reported Aceshowbiz.

There are several issues to be put into consideration before the project could move forward.

There is no plot detail as of now, so it is unclear if the teams are battling each other or teaming up.

No one has an idea about which characters will appear in the film. Since it is said that the upcoming reboot of ‘Fantastic Four’ is not set in the same world as the ‘X-Men’ movies, many speculated that the Fantastic Four would explore parallel dimensions.

To put various superheroes in one universe seems to be a trend right now.

It is like what Marvel does for ‘Captain America: Civil War’, which will add ‘Spider-Man’ into its world.

‘Titanic’ music composer James Horner dies in plane crash

Los Angeles: Oscar-winning music composer James Horner died at the age of 61 in a plane crash near Santa Barbara.

His death was confirmed by Sylvia Patrycja, who is identified on Horner’s film music page as his assistant.

“We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent. He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road,” Patrycja wrote on social networking website Facebook on Monday.
Horner was piloting the small aircraft when it crashed into a remote area about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara, officials said.
An earlier report noted that the plane, which was registered to the composer, had gone down, but the pilot had not been identified.
For his work on the 1997 Best Picture winner ‘Titanic’, directed by James Cameron, Horner captured the Oscar for Original Dramatic Score, and he nabbed another Academy Award for Original Song (shared with lyricist Will Jennings) for ‘My heart will go on’, performed by Celine Dion. His score for ‘Titanic’ sold a whopping 27 million copies worldwide.
His fruitful partnership with Cameron also netted him Oscar nominations for original score for the blockbusters in the 1986 film ‘Aliens’ and 2009 film ‘Avatar’.
The duo reportedly were also at work on ‘Avatar’ sequels.
Horner earned 10 Oscar nominations in all, also being recognised for his work on two other Best Picture winners: ‘Braveheart’ and ‘A Beautiful Mind’.
He also received nominations for ‘An American Tail’, ‘Field of Dreams’, ‘Apollo 13′ and ‘House of Sand and Fog’.
Horner has three films coming out soon — “Southpaw”, the boxing drama that stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams and is due in theaters in July; Jean-Jacques Annaud’s “Wolf Totem”, out in September; and “The 33″, a drama based on the 2010 mining disaster in Chile that’s set for November.
His lengthy film résumé includes “The Lady in Red” (1979), “Wolfen” (1981), “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” (1982) and “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock” (1983), “Red Heat”(1988), “Glory” (1989), “The Rocketeer” (1991), “Patriot Games” (1992), “Searching for Bobby Fischer” (1993), “Jumanji” (1995), “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (2000), “Troy” (2004) and “The Amazing Spider-Man”(2012).

The video includes action sequences. It opens with the filming process of the scene where Jason Clarke’s John Connor gives speech to his team, reported Ace Showbiz.
It continues with the scenes which take place during a battle filled with explosion. It also offers glimpses at the cast members who are heavily-armed with weapons.
The video also gives a look at director Alan Taylor explaining something to the leading actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The most interesting part is when it shows the scene where a yellow bus driven by Emilia Clarke is spinning in the air. The scene was supposed to take place at the Golden Gate Bridge.
However, it was filmed in another location which was set to resemble the Golden Gate Bridge. At the end of the video, Schwarzenegger is seen making a ridiculous joke with a robot figure.
The upcoming film centers on Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) who is sent back to 1984 by John with a mission to save John’s mother, Sarah Connor (Clarke), from a robot programmed to kill her, but what he finds on the other side is not what he expected.
Dana Goldberg and David Ellison produce the movie while the script is written by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.

“Kim’s advice is simple, ‘Don’t read the comments’. This is something she knows from first-hand experience,” a source told hollywoodlife.com.
Kylie revealed her bullying woes in a video posted on photo-sharing application Snapchat.
She said: “It’s kind of crazy I have four million people watch my Snapchats. Half of you guys think I’m weird, and the other half think I’m funny.
“But I’ve been bullied since I’ve been nine. From the whole world, it feels like sometimes… and I think that I’ve done a really great job in handling all this.”

Ever since Hugh Jackman announced that he will play Wolverine one last time, speculations started swirling around the movie in which he will been seen playing the clawed mutant. However, a custom leather goods company KikaNY, has confirmed news about his presence in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.
Production on the follow up of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ started last April. However, there is no official confirmation yet that Wolverine will make an appearance in the movie.
KikaNY posted on its Instagram a photograph of a design for a leather backpack. They have been asked to make a custom duffel bag for Jackman which he may use on the ‘Apocalypse’ set. Another thing that can be inferred from the caption is that Jackman is currently in Montreal for the movie filming, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“We were just asked to make a special duffle backpack for Hugh Jackman who is filming the new X MEN movie in Montreal,” the company captioned the image.
“We started sketching – The bag will be ready next week- we will keep you posted! #hughjackman #Xmen #movie #backpack #special,” they continued. However, it is unclear if the backpack is for Jackman’s personal use or will be used as the property in the movie.

‘Jurassic World’ to become fastest film to cross USD 1 billion

Los Angeles: ‘Jurassic World’ is poised to cross $1 billion in collections at the global box office at a pace quicker than any previous movie, reports variety.com.

The fourth installment in the popular ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise is touted to eclipse the mark on Monday after 13 days in theatres, trumping the record set earlier this year by ‘Furious 7′, which took 17 days to pass that barrier.
Currently, the Universal release’s worldwide total is USD 981.3 million, after topping foreign charts this weekend with a USD 160.5 million haul from 66 territories.
The film has shattered expectations. Going into the summer, analysts expected that the movie would be overshadowed by ‘Minions’ and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.
Now, it has a chance of being the highest-grossing release of the year, potentially giving ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ a run for its money when it debuts this December.
‘Jurassic World’ stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, B.D. Wong and Indian actor Irrfan Khan.
